Florida Keys has an unmissable new paradise: Maker 88

(By Belén Gandolfo Screpante) This iconic restaurant in Islamorada has reopened with a fresh new look. Marker 88 has just been unveiled with a stunning design, aimed at attracting international tourism. It's truly a place worth planning a visit to. The newly renovated Marker 88, with its five decades of history, showcases the most romantic and captivating Caribbean architecture. Let us introduce you to it here at InfoNegocios Miami. Discover its classic dishes and unbeatable sunset views!

Since its opening in 1967, Marker 88 has become a popular dining spot among locals and visitors alike for its consistent fresh food and, above all, its unparalleled sunset views.

Located at mile marker 88 in Islamorada, this Florida Keys institution has undergone a 360-degree renovation that began in 2019, with some areas of the restaurant remaining open while others seemed complete.

Now ready to serve the crowds in its revamped space, the restaurant has fully reopened this month. Chef Zack Sklar and owner's representative Charles Galvin have collaborated with the owners, the Cotton family, to completely renovate the space, including the dining experience. Their new menu shines a light on the rich cultural traditions of the West Indies, Polynesia, and the French Caribbean.

You'll find a selection of Caribbean-inspired curries with freshly made in-house curry paste, spicy Floridian-style chicken fajitas served with roti and homemade tropical sauces, chilled seafood, sushi, and a classic Key Lime Pie prepared on top of a beautiful brown butter and sea salt crust for dessert.

"This new menu showcases the local ingredients and flavors that have defined this region for centuries", said Sklar. "We invite you to embark on a culinary experience that is as unique and incomparable as the Keys themselves and enjoy one of the most magnificent sunsets you've ever seen".

Growing in size but rooted in its humble establishment half a century ago, Marker 88's beautiful 2.5-acre property features two tiki bars serving a variety of handcrafted cocktails, 18 craft beer taps, 10,000 square feet of beachfront dining, and two boat docks for easy access for boaters.

There is also an exclusive retail space for merchandise and 14,000 square feet of new event space, perfect for weddings and private events of up to 450 guests.
Marker 88 is now open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Sunday. Brunch will be launching in mid-summer.
