Brazil now imposes a visa requirement for USA, Canada, and Australia

(By Infonegocios Miami) Starting April 10, 2025, citizens of the United States, Canada, and Australia will face new requirements to enter Brazil, according to the latest regulations implemented by the government of Lula da Silva. The initiative comes after the requirement of visas for citizens of these four countries was repealed during the government of Jair Bolsonaro, without reciprocity. Now, Brazil is reintroducing the electronic visa modality, used until 2019 for these countries, as part of an effort to strengthen security and immigration control.

To obtain the electronic visa, applicants must submit a letter of intent, confirmation of accommodation, return tickets, proof of income, and other documents. The company VFS Global will be responsible for processing the applications, with an average waiting time of five business days.

This adjustment in the visa policy comes at a time when Brazil has experienced a significant increase in the arrival of international tourists. In the first nine months of 2023, the country welcomed nearly 6 million foreign visitors, with US citizens being the second-largest group, surpassed only by Argentine visitors.

These changes reflect a coordinated effort by tourist destinations to manage migratory flows efficiently and securely, while ensuring a favorable travel experience for international visitors.
