The Musk - Milei relationship is Thriving: Starlink now operating in Argentina (the new era of connectivity in the region)

(By Taylor) Starlink, the innovative satellite internet company founded by Elon Musk, has officially arrived in Argentina, ushering in a new era of connectivity for the country. Everything has accelerated in Argentina, and the Musk - Milei relationship is optimal. Starlink operates with a promise of speeds of up to 500 megabits per second, and this revolutionary technology is poised to transform the way Argentinians access the internet.

Since March 26, 2024, Argentine users have had the opportunity to subscribe to Starlink's service, which offers reliable and high-speed wireless broadband connection. But how can interested parties subscribe to this service and what is the associated cost?

To access Starlink's service, users must visit the company's official website, where they will find an availability and speed map that allows them to check if the service is available in their area. Once availability is confirmed, the subscription process is straightforward: complete the contact information and shipping address on the official website or through authorized retailers such as Mercado Libre, Frávega, and Centrogar.

Regarding the cost, the monthly service fee for Starlink in Argentina is $62,500, with an initial deposit of the same amount. Additionally, users will need to make a one-time payment of $499,999 for the installation kit, which includes a parabolic antenna, a router, and a cable. This is in addition to a shipping and handling cost of $31,000. In summary, the total cost for the initial installation of the service is $655,999.

Starlink's decision to enter the Argentine market was authorized by the National Communications Entity (Enacom) at the end of February, along with two other satellite internet companies, Kuiper (Amazon) and OneWEB. The main objective of this measure is to propel Argentina once again to become a regional leader in the field of communications, providing access to quality internet in rural and remote areas where traditional connectivity is limited.

Starlink not only offers fast and reliable internet connection but also represents a step forward in democratizing access to information and communication in Argentina. With its arrival, it is expected that a greater number of Argentinians will be able to enjoy the benefits of being connected in an increasingly digitized and globalized world.

— Adaptación de "The Death and Life of Great American Cities", Jane Jacobs.
