According to promotional images shared by Xiaomi, its Smart Band 8 can be used as a pendant that can be tied around your neck, keychain, or even shoe. It can become a necklace! In addition, in the photos, we can see that the design has been refined to give it a more elegant appearance and will come with much more premium straps. Although we don't know everything about the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 yet, we can predict that it will be a big leap from the Xiaomi Band 7. It probably won't include any major software or hardware innovations, considering how stagnant the current wearable market is, but it could mark the beginning of a trend for its versatile design.

The design of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 allows it to be much more than a smart bracelet. It will have a pill shape and will have at least three types of straps to attach different straps and cords. Thus, it can be easily adapted to be used as a necklace, keychain, or shoe accessory. Although there are already accessories for the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 on Amazon and AliExpress that allow the same thing, what is interesting about the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is that it will also adapt through software to its different uses. And if you wear it on your shoe, it will surely be able to use a specific and more accurate mode of measuring steps, kilometers traveled, etc.

However, when using the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 as a pendant, some of its functions will no longer be available. The bracelet needs to be in contact with the wrist to measure parameters such as heart rate or blood oxygen saturation. Another disadvantage of this new design that we see coming is that the straps from previous generations will not be compatible with the Xiaomi Smart Band 8.
