Microsoft speeds up thanks to its AI bet. It will insert ads in the chatbot

(By Dino Dal Molin) The new version of Microsoft's Bing search engine, powered by the ChatGPT artificial intelligence, has been conceived as a rival to Google from the outset. Microsoft has started to capitalize on its investment in OpenAI technology by including sponsored responses in its new search engine. Additionally, the company has confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of including advertising in Bing chat responses to share advertising revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response. Although the new Bing ChatGPT has not offered the best results in its first weeks, Microsoft continues to play its cards to jeopardize Google's monopoly in the online search business.

Microsoft has decided to include sponsored responses in its new search engine, Bing, powered by the ChatGPT artificial intelligence, as part of its strategy to compete with Google. The company has seen the opportunity to capitalize on its investment in OpenAI technology to endanger the "lethargic monopoly of searches" that, according to the OpenAI CEO, Google holds.

Although the new version of Bing has not offered the best results during its first weeks of life, Microsoft has decided to continue betting on ChatGPT and has included sponsored responses in the Bing chatbot. The company has confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of including advertising in Bing chat responses and sharing advertising revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response.

Some users, such as Debarghya Das, have already spotted these ads in the Bing chatbot and have expressed their fascination with how the advertising economy will develop in linguistic models and how it will affect search advertising. Although Google is also working on an alternative to ChatGPT, called Bard, some of its employees have criticized its announcement and have not yet launched it to the general public.
