SelectUSA Investment Summit: the program that connects the USA and businesses globally. Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay will participate with a large delegation

(By Marcelo Maurizio and Juan Maqueda from Miami) The SelectUSA program, initiated by the White House in 2012, aims to promote foreign direct investment in the United States by providing incentive tools and complementing benefits granted by state governments. Among its promotional activities, SelectUSA conducts entrepreneur missions worldwide and organizes large events that attract investors and businessmen from all over the world.

What is SelectUSA?

Since 2013, during the Barack Obama administration, the program holds the most important event, the SelectUSA Investment Summit, which is the United States' most important business and investment summit. This annual event brings together around 3,500 participants from over 70 countries, including senior government officials and CEOs of leading companies in the country, with the participation of state governors and, in several editions, the President of the United States himself as a keynote speaker.

The SelectUSA Summit is supported by the White House and is managed by the US Department of Commerce, which, through its embassies worldwide, selects and promotes entrepreneurs who will attend this great event. The Summit also features an Exhibition Hall where the 50 American states present the advantages of investing and doing business in their territories. In addition, more than 40 parallel conferences provide details on specific topics, such as taxes, financing, brands and patents, legal aspects, accounting, local and governmental business organizations, among others. Finally, the event's powerful app allows participants to interact and schedule institutional or business meetings with any other participant from around the world.

A Clear Objective

Most participating companies seek to identify opportunities to expand the boundaries of their businesses and reach new markets. They are not looking to relocate but rather to find local partners or set up their own offices to boost their operations in Argentina from there.

The Great 2023 Edition and Argentina's Advance

The 2023 edition of the SelectUSA Investment Summit will be held from May 1 to May 4. This year, the Argentine delegation will be led by the US Ambassador to Argentina, Marc Stanley, the Commercial Attaché for the Southern Cone, Eric Olson, and the Commercial Development and Investment Advisor of the Embassy, Marcelo Amden. The Argentine delegation will include nearly 30 companies from all over the country, from leading large companies seeking to consolidate their businesses to small and medium-sized companies looking for new opportunities to expand and develop worldwide.

The US Embassy in Argentina emphasizes that its goal is not to promote the exile of Argentine companies but to enable them to expand and enhance their businesses, grow, and develop internationally, using the world's most important market as a platform.

SPECIAL MEETINGS AGENDA

The delegation will also have an Exclusive Meetings Agenda for those interested. Taking advantage of the presence in Washington DC, a series of special meetings will be organized with leading local institutions and international organizations.

The agenda will be led by Maximiliano Mauvecin, a specialist in international relations, who has collaborated for many years with the Embassy and the US Department of Commerce in promoting the program.

A schedule of meetings with relevant organizations is planned, including the IFC Corporate Financing Institute of the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Organization of American States OAS, the ExIm Bank, and the Argentine Embassy in Washington, among others. They will also attend the Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Commission on Science and Technology, and during the following week, an additional schedule of meetings will be held in Miami, with the Florida Commerce Department, Enterprise Florida, and the AACC Argentine American Chamber of Commerce of Florida, among others.

Innovation at events:

Participants can use the event's app to schedule one-on-one or group meetings with other attendees, allowing them to connect with like-minded people and make important industry contacts. The app can also provide updated information on speaker schedules and sessions, as well as interactive maps of the venue to help attendees navigate the event.

Additionally, many events now offer virtual options for those who cannot attend in person. This may include live streams of sessions and conferences, as well as online chats and forums so that virtual participants can also connect with other attendees and speakers.

In summary, technology has transformed the way events are organized and conducted. Organizers now have a wealth of tools at their disposal to create interactive and unforgettable experiences for attendees, whether in-person or virtually.

The Summit has a general agenda and also offers:

- SelectUSA Tech: Aimed at technology companies and startups.

- Select Global Women in Tech: Mentoring program for women in startups.

- Spinoffs: Before and after the Summit, spinoffs will be held in several states, with a focus on vertical industries according to their relevance in each state. Additional costs apply.

- Networking app to schedule meetings from your mobile phone.
