The coolest speakeasy-style bar in Miami Beach has a secret entrance

(By Belen Gandolfo Screpante) Located at 16th and Collins Ave, you'll find Koa Poke & Burrito, a trendy restaurant serving poke and acai bowls, as well as poke burritos (think of a very large sushi roll). But hidden behind the restaurant is a discreet red door that leads to Nossa Omakase, a prohibition-style bar and omakase experience.

This speakeasy-style omakase bar in Miami Beach has a secret entrance.

Nossa, which translates to "wow" in Portuguese, lives up to its name with 16-18 courses offered inside. It landed on the prestigious Michelin Guide in 2022 and draws inspiration from timeless Japanese tradition.

To enter, you must make a reservation where you'll receive special instructions on how to get to the secluded location. While we won't reveal all the secrets, we can say that guests arrive at Koa Poke and receive an envelope containing a password that changes every night.

Once you use the password, the red door will open to a clandestine Bar Nossa showcasing black and white Japanese films on the walls. Guests are offered a complimentary cocktail or sake while they eagerly await what's to come.

When it's time to start the omakase, you'll be escorted through a dark hallway that opens up to a theater-like room and a circular 14-seat counter, where the executive chef awaits you.

Nossa Omakase's chef highlights the smoked lobster sashimi, black truffle uni on crispy rice, wagyu A5 nigiri, chutoro nigiri topped with caviar, and truffle otoro uni temaki. Expect plenty of smoke, something dreadful, and a show at the table as the accompaniments are finished before your eyes, including lavish garnishes such as freshly shaved truffles, caviar, and edible gold that fit perfectly with the space's high-end aesthetic.

Nossa Omakase was founded by four friends who live in South Florida, including cosmopolitan gourmets and Koa Poke partners, Sebastian Labno and Astrid Ramirez.

"We've traveled around the world for sushi, and when it comes to omakase, we felt Miami was ready for something bigger and better. We wanted to introduce an intimate yet exciting experience that matches the same vitality of this city," the duo shared in a statement.

Menu options include a 16-18 course dinner ($375 per guest) or the new Bluefin Toro and Caviar dinner held once a month. More recently, Nossa Omakase launched a Tuesday Nigiri night with a seating at 7:30 pm, offering a unique selection of aged Japanese red tuna, otoro, chūtoro, akamai, senaka, king salmon belly, and more.

You can find Nossa Omakase at 1600 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For more information, click here to visit their website.

(Por M. Rodriguez Otero, Maqueda junto a M.
