Apple Vintage Sneakers: a coveted piece for every Silicon Beach enthusiast

(By InfoNegocios Miami) Looking for a one-of-a-kind piece of tech fashion history? How about owning a pair of Apple vintage sneakers adorned with the iconic rainbow logo? You can, but it comes with a hefty price tag of US$ 50.000.

Sotheby's is currently auctioning a pair of Omega Sports Apple Computer sneakers, originally crafted for Apple employees in the 1990s. These white sneakers, adorned with the vintage rainbow Apple logo, are a rare gem for any tech enthusiast or fashion collector.

The sneakers, in pristine condition, proudly display the vintage rainbow Apple logo on the tongue and sides. They are sized at 10.5 for men and come with white laces and an additional eye-catching pair in red.

Sotheby's indicates that these sneakers were originally given away at a conference in the 1990s. Although this pair is new, similar sneakers were auctioned before, fetching thousands of dollars in 2017 and 2020, albeit with slight variations in soles and logo embroidery compared to the ones listed by Sotheby's.

The Omega x Apple sneakers are "new in box," as described. However, it is noted that they may have some imperfections, including a yellowish hue around the midsoles. The pair features an air cushion window in the heel and is a US size 10.5. An alternate pair of red laces is also included in the box.

Due to their age, the sneakers may show a slight yellowing and be more susceptible to wear.

Apple Fashion Evolution

In the late 1980s, Apple ventured into clothing and other items under "The Apple Collection" brand. Many of these items featured the iconic rainbow Apple logo, along with bold and eye-catching designs reminiscent of the era.

Unfortunately, "The Apple Collection" didn't achieve much success, and production was halted, as reported by the BBC.

One standout item from that era was the Apple vintage letterman jacket, a retro black jacket with brown sleeves showcasing the rainbow logo. It caught the public's attention when Drake wore it on stage to promote Apple Music. Similar jackets were subsequently listed on eBay, with prices ranging from $825 to $3,500.

Apple's foray into fashion didn't stop there. In 2015, Apple collaborated with Hermes to create exclusive straps and models for the Apple Watch upon its launch. The collaboration continued for future models, with current prices ranging from $1,229 to $1,509.

Today, Apple fans can purchase official brand items at a store near its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The Apple Campus store, situated alongside its corporate headquarters, offers t-shirts with the Apple logo, similar to those worn by Apple employees in stores, along with caps. These shirts are exclusively available at the California campus store and not online.

As technology enthusiasts and fashion aficionados continue to appreciate Apple's unique vintage items, owning a piece of this iconic brand's history is undoubtedly a special and valuable experience. Just be prepared to pay a premium price for this remarkable piece of tech fashion history!
