The relocation of the NVISION Latino Film & Music Festival to Miami is more than just a change of venue; it's a powerful statement about the importance of Latin culture in the entertainment world. This move promises to amplify Latin voices, foster diversity and inclusion, and create new opportunities for artists. Let's reflect on how we, as a community, can support and participate in this festival to continue elevating the Latin narrative on the global stage.

The Evolution of NVISION: From New York to Miami

"After 10 successful years in New York and Palm Springs, the NVISION Latino Film and Music Festival, a beacon of Latin culture and artistic expression, will move its main event to Miami from September 5th to 7th, 2025," the festival announced. Over the past decade, the festival has flourished as a vibrant community where filmmakers, musicians, and artists come together to uplift and empower each other.

The Impact of NVISION on Latin Culture in the USA and the New Anglolatin Culture

"NVISION changes the narrative by transforming perceptions of Latin cinema, amplifying the influence of Latin music, and empowering future creative generations through education and community," the festival highlighted. As a testament to the festival's growth, in 2024, over 60% of the films showcased were directed by women, demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Miami: The New Cultural Epicenter (The Capital of Anglolatin Culture)

"This new chapter will explore new horizons and strengthen NVISION's commitment to celebrating Latin culture. Miami, recognized as a cultural epicenter with one of the most diverse Latin populations in the world, will serve as the stage for the festival's continued growth and evolution," the NVISION team affirmed. The city of Miami, with its rich mix of cultures and vibrant arts scene, is the perfect place for the festival to continue its mission of elevating Latin voices.

The Legacy of Danny Hastings and the Vision of NEON16

"Latin filmmaker and photographer Danny Hastings founded the NVISION Latino Film & Music Festival in 2015 (previously known as the Official Latino Film Festival). The festival was born in response to the lack of representation of Latinos in Hollywood," Hastings explained. In 2024, the festival partnered with NEON16, a cultural powerhouse in music, film, and content production, elevating Latin talent and creativity to unprecedented global recognition, led by creative entrepreneur Lex Borrero, media mogul Tommy Mottola, and Latin super producer Tainy.

The Importance of Moving to Miami

"When we partnered with NEON16 last year, I was deeply impressed by their vision and commitment to our culture, but what excites me most is what's to come. Moving the festival to Miami is not just a logistical decision; it's a cultural statement. Miami is where the pulse of Latin creativity beats; every corner tells a story, and the convergence of diverse Latin voices creates a symphony of innovation. It's the perfect place for NVISION to grow, inspire, and leave a lasting legacy," said Danny Hastings, co-founder of the NVISION Latino Film & Music Festival.

The Perspective of NEON16

"Miami has long been the cultural heart of Latinos, a city where our stories are lived, created, and celebrated. This move marks a new era for the festival, allowing us to elevate the Latin narrative on an even larger scale. This festival has already transformed the industry, and in Miami, we will take it to new heights, creating more opportunities for our community to be seen, heard, and celebrated globally," mentioned Lex Borrero, CEO of NEON16.

Programming and Awards

"The NVISION Latino Film & Music Festival will feature a dynamic program of film screenings and musical performances that highlight the diversity and creativity of Latin talent. The inclusion of these distinguished artists reinforces NVISION's mission to deeply inspire audiences and celebrate vibrant Latin culture through film and music, providing a platform for artists to share their stories with the world," the festival detailed. NVISION comes off a historic year in 2024, where the festival showcased an impressive selection of four feature films, 60 short films, and nine panels representing a diverse range of countries, including the United States, Latin America, and Spain. Last year's winners included Ponyboi, directed by Esteban Arango (Best U.S. Feature Film), and Boca Chica, directed by Gabriella Moses (Best International Feature Film), each receiving a $10,000 prize, while Shut Up & Fish, directed by Raúl Sánchez and Pasqual Gutiérrez (Best U.S. Short Film), and Andas Danzando por Ahí, directed by Mariel Sosa (Best International Short Film), received $5,000 each.
