Trump and Milei: a political encounter of high repercussions in America and the world

(By Molina, Maqueda, and Maurizio) In a politically charged encounter, former President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, shared an effusive embrace at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held on the outskirts of Washington. This gesture occurred just a day after Milei held significant meetings with officials from Joe Biden's government in Buenos Aires. The viral impact of this encounter is as significant as the seal it places on the almost unprecedented history of global geopolitics. A fact that undoubtedly sets a trend in the new dynamic of the world.

An Event Impacting All of America and the World:

The meeting between Trump and Milei at CPAC underscores the complex political dynamics in both the United States and Latin America. Their interactions reflect the convergence of interests and the quest for alliances in an increasingly challenging geopolitical context.

Donald Trump and Javier Milei met in Washington, as revealed by a video posted by Dan Scavino on X (formerly Twitter), a former assistant to Trump. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where both participated. In the video, Milei thanks Trump and expresses his desire to see him again, this time as president.

Effusive Greetings at CPAC

Very Special and Unusual Praise from Trump to a Latin American President:

During his speech at CPAC, Trump praised Milei, referring to him as "Maga" (Make Argentina Great Again), highlighting his ability to make Argentina great again. This appearance at CPAC marked Milei's second trip to the United States since taking office in November. Although he met with Trump, he did not meet with President Joe Biden during his visits.

Previously, Milei had met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who praised his efforts to stabilize the Argentine economy, describing them as "absolutely vital."

The International Stage at CPAC

CPAC attracted a series of political figures from the national and international far right, including leaders such as the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, and the President of the Spanish Vox party, Santiago Abascal, among others.

From Buenos Aires to Washington: Milei's Journey

Javier Milei, the fervent Libertarian president of Argentina, faces the great challenge of convincing a statist culture prevalent in much of his nation to embrace change. He has been a prominent figure in national and international politics since taking office in December. Inspired by the movement led by Trump, Milei has adopted rhetoric and a political strategy similar to Trump's, although Milei is clearly a purer liberal, non-interventionist, and with greater coherence in his defense of the private sector. However, both agree on views on issues and the fight against socialism, state corruption, and the change in collectivist culture, as well as the vital importance of action against the scourges of humanity such as drugs, narco-governments, and terrorism in all its phases.

Trump and Milei's Greetings and Emblematic Phrases

In an exchange in English and Spanish, Trump and Milei exchanged emblematic phrases. Trump recalled Milei's slogan "Make Argentina Great Again," while Milei reaffirmed his commitment to freedom with his famous phrase: "¡Viva la libertad, carajo!" (Long live freedom, damn it!).

Politics and Diplomacy at CPAC

Milei's participation in CPAC was controversial, especially after his meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Despite suggestions to the contrary, Milei took the opportunity to urge attendees to stop socialism and defend individual freedom.

Trump: A Proud Political Dissident

Trump, for his part, presented himself as a "proud political dissident" in a speech marked by references to the recent death of Russian political dissident Alexei Navalny and comparisons with his own legal situation.
