Group Stage Recap: Surprises, Confirmations, and Shifts
Right from the jump, the tournament’s powerhouses and underdogs made their mark.

Group A: Palmeiras and Inter Miami fought for the lead, finishing tied on 5 points each. The Brazilians edged out on goal difference. Porto’s surprise elimination came after a draw with Al Ahly.

Group B: A three-way tie at 6 points, with Atlético Madrid and PSG atop. The goal difference favored PSG, who now face Inter Miami in an exciting Round of 16 clash.

Group C: Major upset—Benfica beat Bayern and took the top spot, pushing the Germans to second. Boca Juniors, needing a big win and a Bayern loss, was eliminated after a draw with Auckland City.
